Dreamy Film Grad Photos for App State, Along the Blue Ridge Parkway

Three things that go great together: film photos, Appalachian mountains, and dreamy grad pics with your bestie.

Every time I go to Boone to work with grad clients, magic happens! This is especially true when we take photos on film, ensuring a timeless, dreamy, hazy aesthetic. Nothing gets better! The natural beauty of Appalachia looks incredible in grad portraits, and we get to showcase the beautiful surrounding areas that often define the college experience of App State students.

I love working with grads, especially duos and small groups. In one afternoon and several frames, we tell the story of their relationships, friendships, and personal growth throughout their college experience.

Take the photoshoot below from last spring in Boone, North Carolina. I worked with roommates and best friends Reece and Valerie, taking photos at their shared college home (an adorable cottage tucked in the woods), around campus, and driving around the parkway. Val and Reese knew they wanted their photos on film: the grainy, dreamy look that digital just can never quite match. We worked through a few rolls, mixing in solo shots with duos and stopping to capture each pocket of North Carolina sunshine.
